Bathing Beauties Photo Contest

 

Is there anything more exciting to watch in your backyard than the flurry of activity created when songbirds enjoy a refreshing bath? I think most backyard birders would agree that bathing rituals are one of the reasons we invite birds to share our outdoor spaces. And I think this subject is just perfect for our next photo contest! Send in your photos of backyard birds ‘cooling off' in your birdbath, pond, or even a naturally formed puddle. This contest does represent a real challenge for photographers--as the whole idea of a ‘bathing beauty’ is an action shot—and capturing action can be difficult. Therefore, your ‘après-splash’ photos will also be welcome. In other words, if an action photo is a problem, try to capture a great shot of a bird still dripping wet--moments after his bath.

 

The ‘Bathing Beauties' contest begins today and runs through July 29th. That should give everyone lots of time to capture just the right shot. And feel free to submit more than one entry if you like. Then, everyone who is interested will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo once I have posted the finalists.
